I provide compassionate, evidence-based trauma treatment tailored to your needs. We support various areas of trauma such as complex, childhood, racial, narcissistic, addictions, and other traumas. Using clinically supported approaches such as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), accelerated resolution therapy (ART), somatic experiencing, cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and parts work such as internal family systems ( IFS). I help you process distressing memories, reduce symptoms, and rebuild safety and connection. Sessions focus on stabilizing symptoms, developing coping skills, processing traumatic memories at a pace you can tolerate, and strengthening daily functioning and relationships. Using identity & purpose building and reparenting modalities to help you cultivate resilience and empower yourself to take back your life.

  • Decreases anxiety, depression, and physiological reactivity linked to trauma

  • Improves sleep, concentration, and emotional regulation

  • Restores a sense of safety, agency, and self-compassion

  • Builds practical skills for managing triggers and navigating relationships

OCD

What Harvest provides?

I provide evidence-based, individualized treatment plans for obsessive-compulsive disorder using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with a focus on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), supplemented by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness strategies when helpful. I conduct thorough assessments to identify symptom patterns, triggers, avoidance behaviors, and co-occurring conditions (anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodivergence). I teach practical skills: cognitive restructuring, anxiety management, distress tolerance, and relapse prevention. I offer parent coaching and family support for children and adolescents. I also, coordinate care with psychiatrists for medication evaluation when appropriate and integrate medical recommendations into therapy.

How it helps?

  • Reduces the frequency and intensity of intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors by gradually confronting feared situations and preventing ritualized responses.

  • Builds tolerance for uncertainty and distress, decreasing avoidance and increasing daily functioning.

  • Supports emotional regulation, decision-making, and quality of life through skill practice and personalized exposure work.

  • Provides tools to manage setbacks and maintain long-term recovery while addressing co-occurring issues that can complicate OCD.

Who it’s for?

Adults, adolescents, and children experiencing obsessions (intrusive, unwanted thoughts) and compulsions (rituals or avoidance) that interfere with daily life.

People whose OCD co-occurs with anxiety, depression, trauma histories, or neurodivergent traits who need an integrated, compassionate approach.

Individuals ready to engage in structured, sometimes challenging work (exposures and response prevention) and who want practical, measurable strategies to regain control over their lives.

Evidence-based care to help manage intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and anxiety through empathetic implementation of ERP therapy (exposure and response prevention) and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy).

A Grounded Approach to Healing

At Harvest Counseling, therapy is rooted in safety, collaboration, and meaningful growth. Care is personalized to support each client’s emotional needs and goals.

About Charmain

Where Healing Takes Root

Welcome to Harvest Counseling. I'm Charmain, Ph.D. ,LCSW, CASAC-T, CCTP-II, a trauma and OCD therapist with more than 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and reclaim their lives.

I believe that healing happens when people feel truly seen, understood, and supported. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can process difficult experiences, develop resilience, and move toward the life you desire.

My work is grounded in the belief that while trauma can profoundly impact the brain, body, relationships, and sense of self, healing is possible. Trauma and OCD can feel overwhelming and exhausting — but they don’t get to determine your future.

I help clients understand how past experiences shape present challenges and equip them with practical tools to foster emotional wellness, greater self-awareness, and lasting growth.

My Approach

I specialize in treating trauma, OCD, and depression, using evidence-based approaches tailored to each client's unique needs.

My advanced training includes:

  • Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP- II)

  • Certified Accelerated Resolution Therapist (ART)

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD

As a trauma and OCD specialist, I understand that many behaviors often viewed as problems are actually survival strategies developed in response to overwhelming experiences. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I ask, "What happened to you? and “How is it effecting you today?"

We collaborate to identify unhelpful patterns, regulate the nervous system, process painful experiences, and develop sustainable coping strategies—so you can reclaim your life from trauma, OCD, depression, and anxiety.

Secondary Specialties

Neurodiversity-Affirming Care

What is Neurodiverse-Affirming care?

I provide compassionate, evidence-based therapy that recognizes neurodivergent traits (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory differences) as valid variations of the human experience. Sessions focus on individualized assessment, strength-based goals, and practical strategies for daily functioning, emotional regulation, and relationship skills. I collaborate with clients to reduce accommodation barriers, build self-advocacy, and create personalized supports rather than trying to change neurodivergent identity.

How it helps?

  • This approach reduces shame and increases self-understanding by validating how your brain works.

  • Therapy teaches concrete tools for attention, executive functioning, sensory regulation, and social communication—matched to your needs and preferences.

  • It also addresses co-occurring issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, or burnout, improving quality of life, resilience, and confidence in work, school, and relationships.

Who it’s for?

Neurodivergent adults, teens, and families seeking respectful, non-pathologizing care—whether newly diagnosed, self-identifying, or supporting a loved one.

Ideal for people who want practical supports, identity-affirming treatment, and collaborative planning that honors strengths and autonomy.

Trauma-Informed OCD Treatment

What is Trauma-Informed couples counseling?

Trauma informed couples counseling at Harvest Counseling offers a safe, structured space for partners to heal the relational impact of individual or shared traumatic experiences, and how those experiences affect relationships. I work with both partners and the couple together, combining trauma-informed therapies (ACT, sensorimotor approaches, and cognitive-behavioral interventions) with attachment-focused and communication-based techniques. Sessions focus on stabilizing symptoms, building emotional safety, improving attunement, and developing practical skills for managing triggers and reparative interactions.

How it helps?

  • Reduces reactivity and PTSD-related symptoms that disrupt connection and daily functioning.

  • Restores trust and safety through guided, paced exposure and co-regulation practices.

  • Improves communication, conflict resolution, and the ability to repair ruptures.

  • Strengthens emotional intimacy by addressing trauma-related shame, avoidance, and misattunement.

  • Teaches partners concrete tools for supporting one another without fostering enmeshment or codependency, allowing autonomy and individuality.

Who it’s for?

Couples where one or both partners have experienced trauma (single-incident, complex, developmental, childhood, or secondary trauma).

Couples struggling with persistent conflict, withdrawal, hypervigilance, sexual difficulties, or emotional distance linked to trauma.

Partners who want to learn healthier ways to respond to triggers and rebuild safety together.

Couples seeking a structured, evidence-based approach that integrates individual symptom work with relational healing.

Culturally Humble and Faith-Informed Care

What is Culturally Humble and Faith Informed care?

I provide therapy that combines cultural humility with respect for clients’ faith, values, and spiritual practices. Sessions center on listening without assumption, exploring how culture and religion shape identity and coping, and integrating evidence-based clinical approaches with clients’ spiritual resources when desired. I collaborate with clients to set goals that honor cultural and faith contexts, offer psychoeducation tailored to those backgrounds, and adapt interventions to be both clinically effective and culturally respectful.

How it helps?

  • This approach reduces barriers to care by validating clients’ cultural and spiritual worldviews, which increases trust and engagement.

  • It supports more accurate assessment and treatment planning by acknowledging how culture and faith influence symptoms, meaning-making, and help-seeking. Integrating faith and spirituality—when clients request it—can enhance resilience, provide sources of meaning and community, and reinforce therapeutic change.

  • Cultural humility also helps address power dynamics, decrease re-traumatization, and create a safer space for discussing identity-related stressors.

Who it’s for?

People who want therapy that respects and incorporates their cultural background and spiritual beliefs — including those from marginalized racial, ethnic, or religious groups, immigrants, multi-faith families, and people exploring faith-related concerns.

It’s appropriate for anyone seeking a therapist who will listen openly, adapt treatment to cultural and spiritual needs, and partner with them rather than impose assumptions.
